2.5" Round button. This National Native American Month Poster features Kachina Dolls. Kachina Dolls are one of the symbols of religious folk art and they have characteristics of the native people of the southwestern region of the United States of America. Kachina dolls have been made for countless ceremonies for the Hopi people. These dolls are small, wooden images carved to represent the men who danced in costume with hand-painted masks to honor the Kachina spirit in the villages from December through July. The Kachinas are supernatural, focusing on the spirit or essence in animate and inanimate objects in the environment that protect the Hopi people. Artist: Mark A. Martinez.
